Market Leaders in Soft Starters Join Forces
New Major force in global market...

S2S Electronics Ltd and Fairford Electronics Ltd both have 20 years of experience in the soft start market. A new initiative sees the two companies joining forces to develop, design, manufacture, market and support soft starts in both the UK and world markets.

Fairford will concentrate on the design, development, marketing and support of the combined range of soft start products, whereas S2S will concentrate on the manufacturing of printed circuit boards and the assembly of products.

From the 1st July 2009, Fairford will take over responsibility for the sales, marketing and support of the S2S range of soft starts.

S2S customers will gain the benefit of working with a company purely focused on the design and application of soft starts. The full range of S2S products continue to be available, as well as access to an extended product range of Fairford soft starts. This gives the client an opportunity to ensure that the correct product is acquired to suit application.

Fairford have already expanded their team based in Kingsbridge, Devon, and Ian Fox will continue to support the combined range of S2S and Fairford products in the field.

Existing customers need not be affected as it is the intention to ensure that the transition is as seamless as possible. They will remain unaffected by the collaboration with relation to commercial matters and all existing commercial and financial agreements will be maintained during the transfer.

This collaboration will allow both companies to focus on their core strengths, and will mean that the whole operation from design right through to circuit board production and manufacture will be ‘in house’. Subsequently the whole supply chain achieves an economy of scale not previously possible.

The venture will create a far stronger UK based soft start specialist that is able to provide specific application solutions and a higher level of service than the established industrial automation brands.

Fairford History

Founded in 1979, Fairford Electronics has always been at the forefront of soft start innovation.

In 1982, the Company introduced the World’s first fully digital Energy Optimising soft starter, and was granted worldwide patents on this technology. Since then it has supplied this technology to many of the global leaders in industrial automation, and is now chosen by internationally recognised brands to compliment and extend their product ranges.

The Fairford range of soft starts runs from 5Amps to 2800Amps, one of the most comprehensive ranges globally available, and as energy prices rise, the Fairford Energy Optimising technology can offer proven savings.

Over 85% of production is exported, and therefore Fairford is respected globally and is specified for all industrial applications.

Continuous investment in research and development ensures that Fairford remain market leaders year after year.

A greater focus on design, sales and marketing has seen the company grow by over 50% year on year during the past 3 years, with similar results predicted for 2010.

In 2008 Fairford established a sister company, Fairford Energy which supplies energy saving products for lighting and motor control applications. Its products have been widely recognised as a premier solution with installations at more than 1600 sites across the UK.

S2S Electronics Statement Regarding WEEE Directive (2002/96) Amendment (2003/108) And RoHS Directive (2002/95)
The WEEE directive is a new European directive aiming to promote the reuse and recycling as opposed to landfill of end of life electrical and electronic waste in the European market. This is a producer responsibility directive with producers responsible for the collection and treatment of equipment from January 2006. The directive applies to most consumer products and some industrial products.

The RoHS directive is in addition to this, legislating for all new electrical equipment put on the market after 1st July 2006 to be free from certain substances. This includes, Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, Hexavalent Chromium, Polybrominated Biphenyls and Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers.

After careful consideration of both these directives and the scope of them, we have come to the conclusion that the Electronics Soft Start product is Outside the scope of the directives in the UK.

As part of our Environmental Management system and continuous improvement we are able to offer a take back and recycling service for soft start products through our sister company RID UK Ltd. Whilst we have no legal obligation we also fully intend to offer a RoHS compliant soft start product to the market. We cannot advise of exact dates yet until we are happy with availability of parts and long term reliability of replacements. We will advise as soon as we have this date.

If You’re Looking To Soft Start AC Motors... Start Here...
Saftronics 2S Ltd, the UK’s specialist soft start manufacturer has launched a new ‘Softdrive200’ range of products. It is available up 110kw with integral overload and by pass switching. Integral by pass means the switching devices are only in circuit during start up, resulting in a reduction in heat loss and a product that is dramatically smaller than conventional soft start units. The users can benefit from the reduced panel space required due to the smaller dimensions and not having to wire in external by pass contactors or overloads.Softdrive200
