Soft Start in the Paper Industry
Soft Starts can be utilised widely in the paper industry as well as the normal process applications of pumps, fans and compressors, soft start can also be used in paper specific applications. These include:

Typical settings for Soft Start can be found by clicking here. The settings are typical and depend on the motor and load characteristics. The figures are also based on No load starting and may change. A pulper started with only water will take less current than one started with pulp. Similarly a disc refiner with mix will take more current than an unloaded refiner. In applications such as a refiner or mixer-pulper kick start is also available on the soft starts. This allows a kick of voltage to overcome stiction. This is applied for 5 or 10 cycles to provide a torque boost and for this period current limit is not active so current if free to rise to a higher level.
